Angkor Wat and Last Night in Cambodia

-Woke up at 4:30 am to get to Angkor Wat in time for the sunrise. Didn't realize you were supposed to arrange to be picked up by a TukTuk the day before. The guy at the lobby thought we were crazy. By some crazy stroke of luck there was a guy waiting outside.

-Watched the slightly uneventful sunrise - it was slightly cloudy out so was more a general lighting up of the area. We literally could hardly see when we first got there! It was very peaceful, despite all the tourists. You could hear the crickets chirping and there was still dew on the grass. A white horse was grazing on the expanse of grass. It looked like a fairy tale.

-Walked around Angkor Wat, which was gorgeous. Unfortunately we didn't see any monks! We thought we heard them chanting but that ended up being someone playing a CD.

-Had some breakfast after getting swarmed by the cutest Cambodian kids trying to sell us stuff. This little girl gave me a bracelet for free, guilt tripping me into buying postcards from her.

-Rode the TukTuk to the Bayon area. It was one of my favourite temples. It was in ruins but was just so beautiful. It was the one with the faces in the stone.

-Walked up to many other temples, eventually meeting our TukTuk driver.

-Stopped at some smaller temples on the way to Ta Prom. Ta Prom is the famous one with the trees growing all over the walls. It was stunning. Unfortunately it had been damaged during a storm and a lot of it had fallen down. They were doing a bunch of construction to repair it.

-Were exhausted so went back to the hostel and took a three hour nap.

-Walked to the Night Market. I bought a t-shirt, and one for Marco. They are a big fan of fish massages here. The ones where you stick your feet in the water and the fish come and eat all the dead skin of them. I did not try it.

-Side note: everyone here addressed Katie and I as "Lady." Sentences we heard frequently: "TukTuk ride Lady?" "Massage lady?" "You buy something Lady?" "Lady, you want something to eat?"

-Went to a Mexican restaurant for dinner where I had a quaesadilla, actually very delicious. We ate everything but Cambodian food in Cambodia.

-Managed to electrocute myself while using one of the hostel's computer.
